Dear Friends,
The trip to London Ontario to stand for Baby Joseph was a time of intercession and ministry to the Maraachli family. Saturday March 5th, we met passionate Christian believers and a vibrant pro-life activists who are laboring to help a needy Canadian family in the middle of a parental nightmare. Present was Pat Mahoney from Washington DC who we know from activities in the states and from his time with us at the Rescue Rochester banquet a few years ago.
The father, Mo Maraachli, his wife and son are being denied a simple procedure that would allow them to care for their 13 month old baby boy, Joseph, at home. Here a Muslim family from Lebenon, found themselves surrounded and cared for by the love of concerned Christian believers.
Chet Gallagher, myself and Sara Jo Medez and Margret Preston made the 4 hour trip and were present at a 2 hour prayer vigil from 12 - 2 PM near the Victoria Health Science Centre. Chet was in town after speaking at the annual Rescue Rochester Pro-Life Banquet, it was a providential time. During this time we met baby Joseph's father, Mo who greeted us with concern over the cold rain and provided hot coffee and umbrella's. for the 49 people present. But his words were most comforting and energizing for they confirmed the very reason I made the trip. He said, "This is not just for our baby Joseph but for other baby Josephs that will come along."
That statement is so true. Once we remove the undergirding of God's moral law and absolutes from our medical institutions and begin to rationalize and ration care based on costs and possible outcomes, life and care is now longer tied to the Christian ideal of mercy and compassion but dollars and sense and untilitarian motives. We begin to decide what lives are worthy of the effort to care and invest the time and effort and resources in their care. The system begins to grade and decide what lives and worthy of living....
Later at a rally held at a local hotel, the Maraachli family shared their plight and father Mo spoke through a prepared text read by Joseph's aunt. He and his family cannot be in the same room with his son without security present. He is not allowed to take pictures of his own son. We are still waitng for a American hospital to open it's doors and perform the tracheotomy for baby Joseph so he would be able to go home with his family. They are not looking for heroic care but the means to care for their son in the privacy and love of their own home. Chet was asked to pray for this family and asked for healing of baby Joseph in Jesus name.During the service we heard for the organizers of this event and their determination to continue to gather each Saturday at the same corner in London and the determination to stand in and help the Maraachli family. We saw a powerful slide and music presentation and over $4000.00 was collected for the family to help with legal and extra expenses. I was asked to pray the bendiction and asked the Lord that the trumpet of warning would be heard in Canada and the USA regarding these in roads of humanism and the undermining of parental rights and responsibilities.
Pray that a hospital in the states would agree to help this family.
In Jesus,
Mike Warren
